Turkey Government Scholarship | Benefits and How to Apply

Turkey government scholarships, more commonly known as ‘Türkiye Burslari Scholarships’ are actually the prestigious financial aid program funded by the Turkish government. Under the Turkish government scholarship program, fundings are granted on a competitive basis to eligible students which enables them to pursue long and short-term programs in leading Turkish universities.

Turkish Scholarship Benefits with Coverage:

This scholarship is being awarded to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as short-term and research-based programs in Turkish universities. The bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. Programs offer placement in the university, a one-time return ticket to and from Turkey, free accommodation, free Turkish language course for a year, free tuition and health insurance, and a monthly stipend (800, 1,100, and 1,600 TL a month respectively for bachelor’s, master’s and Doctorate programs)  

The short-term success scholarship program offers a monthly stipend only of 450 TL per month to 900 TL per month depending upon the level of study. No other benefits will be given for this course.

The Turkish research scholarship is for three to ten months and involves a monthly stipend of 3,000 TL. 

The length of the bachelor’s program is 4 to 6 years along with a year-long Turkish language course. The master’s program is for three years and the Ph.D. program is for five years. Both of these programs include a year of a mandatory Turkish Language course. 

Turkey Scholarship Eligibility/Academic Criteria for Application:

For Bachelors:

Students with a high school result of 70% or more can apply. They should age 21 years or less.

For Masters:

Applicants should have a minimum bachelor’s percentage of 75% and shouldn’t age more than 30 years.

For Ph.D.:

Applicants should have achieved at least 75% marks in their previous degree and shouldn’t age more than 35 years.

Others:

Students applying to the pharmacy, medicine, or dentistry fields at any level of study should have a previous result of 90%. 

Citizens from countries other than Turkey are eligible to apply. Applicants should be in the last year of their study programs. This scholarship is also open to researchers, professors, and academicians.

Students who are already studying in Turkish institutions cannot apply for this scholarship for the same level of study that they are currently enrolled in. 

How to Apply to Turkish Government Scholarships:

You need to apply online for the Turkey Government Scholarship. Students who wish to be taught in an English language program will need to submit proof of their language proficiency via standardized tests if their first language is not English. They will need to upload some other documents along with their application on the online portal of the scholarship program. These documents are as follows:

    • A valid passport or NIC proving that they are actually the citizen of the country they claim to be.
    • A recent photo of the applicant, preferably a portrait. Unidentifiable photos can create a hassle for the applicant.
    • Past exam scores (for candidates who possess national qualification).
    • Past degree (either a high school diploma or a makeshift graduation certificate)
    • Educational transcripts.
    • International exam/tests scores if required by the institution and program of choice (like GRE, GMAT)
    • Language proficiency test scores if required by the university and/or program of choice.
    • Previous research work and a research proposal for doctoral candidates. 

Turkey Scholarship Result Announcement 2021-2022

The applications for the Turkey scholarships are evaluated on the basis of the candidate’s academic records, participation in extra-curricular activities, and work history (if any exists). The admission criterion for the program they applied to is also kept under consideration at all times.

It is expected that Turkey Scholarships Results will be announced in the month of June 2021 for the academic session 2021-2022.
