Casinos are the home of bachelor parties, and group hangouts and are often male-dominanted. On the other side of the table, more and more women are becoming casino employees.

Currently, women aren’t the majority when it comes to casino employees. Now they are making up a larger percentage, with one statistic suggesting that 42 percent of casino employees are currently women.

However, some positions in the casino industry seem to cater to women, such as live dealing, for example. In both online and in-land casinos, you will notice that many of the dealers are female. This can be for several reasons, but some believe female dealers are very engaging and can be great for the casino’s image. Female dealers dressed in smart casino uniforms with their makeup and hair done to present a professional image to customers. This can even make the casino seem more glamorous than it appears to be!

Women are very approachable and for other female players, this can make them feel like dealers are welcoming so they can also engage in games without feeling intimidated.

For some, much of the appeal of the casino is the customizable gameplay experience without the involvement of staff or dealers. For example, many casino enthusiasts and traditionalists will opt for games with low third-party intervention. Playing slots for real money or taking a chance in video poker is preferred by these players for solo gaming.

Even without the need for assistance in some casino games, female workers are still killing it in the casino industry in these 5 positions.

1.  Live dealer

Speaking briefly about live dealers earlier, we touched on why women are excelling in this position. Professionalism is part of it, but it is also about diversity and inclusion. Although the casino industry is still shaky when it comes to the role that women have in it, it is improving. In Atlantic City in 2023, the Unite Here casino union elected a female leader. It is the same in the live dealing realm, as women are a force to be reckoned with online and in land casinos.

Some casinos cater to male clientele due to them being the casino’s primary customer base, and therefore, female dealers can appear visually appealing to attract some of these customers.

In this role, female dealers maintain immaculate communication due to their experiences working as dealers for years. They know how to interact with the regulars and male clientele so they can banter with them, proficiently deal cards, and deal with game queries head-on without escalation.

2.  Casino Marketing Manager

The rise of social media has given birth to an era where marketing has become a necessity for businesses online through social media and content creation. In the last ten years, the roles of women in marketing have also skyrocketed into managerial positions like Account Managers, and in the casino, marketing manager.

Women casino marketing managers have been able to create marketing strategies to cater specifically to female customers. As women themselves, they can understand the behavior of female consumers which can help them derive effective promotions and branding to appeal to female gamblers.

Women have done this by shaking up the casino industry and encouraging them to reconsider marketing strategies to promote female-led gaming initiatives. In marketing, this has included hiring new female staff members as a method to encourage more women to be involved in the casino industry in various positions.

3.  Casino Events Manager

As well as marketing, women have been known to hold an elaborate event or two! Planning successful casino events requires intense organization and creativity which women can do with attention to detail. With many big life events to mimic such as baby shows and birthday parties, women can bring innovative ideas to the table with assistance from marketing, social media, and the brain!

4.  Casino Host

Casino hosts are an integral part of the customer experience for visitors. Hosts are the people who greet customers and set the tone for their gaming experience. Women are excelling as casino managers because of their great interpersonal skills. Research suggests women are better leaders during crises which means that women can easily de-escalate conflict and handle chaos without faltering. Applying this to the role of a casino host, female casino hosts can promptly de-escalate conflict and can easily build relationships with loyal casino customers.

If a customer is intoxicated, for example, a female casino host can firmly but politely handle the situation due to their ability to be personable with customers. In the running of the casino, this keeps the casino floor running smoothly and other customers happy in their gaming experience.

5.  CEO

While women face many career challenges in different jobs, women are thriving as CEOs in the casino business. Amy Howe has become a key figure in the fantasy sports industry and while this is not directly linked to the traditional casino, it shows women are advancing in the gambling sector.

Women can adapt quickly to changes which for a CEO, is essential in running a business. Factors such as financial backing, investors and revenue can all drastically change which can impact casino services such as games offered, guest services, and the casino’s capacity to hold events.

Furthermore, women in leadership roles are generally considered to be collaborative workers. In a casino, CEOs will need to work with executives, the gaming operations department, hospitality, marketing, human resources, regulatory affairs, and the IT department to make sure everything to do with operations and finances is in check. With so many departments, a female CEO can use a collaborative leadership style to liaise with each department and tackle any problems before they become unmanageable, or develop a team that can.
